I have a contemporary art practice. I draw, paint, use film and photography and make sculptural objects.

 

Commissions

 

May 2013 – February 2014 Carr Vale sculpture project, Bolsover Dragonflies.

Inspired by a find of dragonfly fossils I the coal seams of Bolsover colliery, Stone sculpture depicting the carboniferous landscape.

 

Nov 2013 – Jan 2014 Design and cast bronze award plaques for diamond cellebration at Portland college, Mansfield.

 

Nov 2013 – ongoing Documentary film based on the late Chales Causley, poet. Recording interviews with people who knew him.

 

April 2013 Musical bridge, wooden sculptural/ musical instruments Idle Valley Nature Reserve, Retford.

 

Jan 2011 to present co curator of ‘St Eval archive” ongoing film oral history project recording memories for the archive and producing documentary film ‘about the land’, dealing with sense of place in a small rural community. Funded by Feast, and the Arts Council

 

Feb /April 2011 ‘Blackwell Mining memorial /public artwork, Sculpture commission to design and install an art piece to acknowledge the importance of mining heritage to the village

 

September/November 2010 ‘Film commission, Film making commission to guide a group of young film makers to produce a film showing their impression of Clumber Park.

 

June/ Sept 2010. Clumber Park Mosaic Commission. To design and install new mosaic for the Refurbished education Centre. Commissioned by National Trust.

 

July 2010 ‘Dance in the Street’, Film making commission to follow a group of dancers training for a dance performance, Bassetlaw.

 

July 2010 The Big Sing Porthcothan, Cornwall one day arts festival ,sculpture commission to create a sand sculpture of a 50 foot Lobster

Workshops

 

Andrew holds a recent enhanced CRB certificate and public liability insurance to the value of Five million pounds. These are available for inspection prior to commencing any work. He is experienced in a wide range of community-based projects working with all age groups and abilities. Recent projects have been working with schools to develop educational resources and to develop community-based arts training schemes for arts leaders.

Andrew has considerable experience in project development. He can work well as a part of a team, and has served on several arts steering groups.

Projects have been developed from their conception through to fund raising, planning and risk assessment. He is capable of delivering creative workshops across a wide range of art forms as well as competent in coordinating the work of other artists

Dec 08 – March 09 Visible Resident artist at Thoresby delivering a ten week arts program for a group of people over the age of fifty.

 

Oct- Nov 2008 “It’s good to be me..” Six week extended schools residency exploring self and identity using contemporary sculpture. A collaboration project between Andrew and Artist Brian Eccleshaw working with four schools in the Gainsborough area. Culminating in a professional exhibition of the children’s work at Bend in the River , Gainsborough.

 

July 2008   Thoresby Gallery 37 plus. Four week residency working at Thoresby Hall delivering visual arts apprenticeships and working towards a final exhibition in the Gallery and participants being entered for the Bronze arts award.

 

Nov 2007 – March 2008 Travellers enrichment program   Pleasley coordinator/ artist. Project management role including attending travellers forum meetings, risk assessment, coordination of creative sessions and managing support staff. Evaluation and end of project report writing.

 

Feb – March 2008 Between the Leaves Community Arts leaders training program Barlborough.

Developing a project from concept to completion. Working with community volunteers to produce a program of training sessions in making skills and how to organise an art project

 

January 2008 Animation workshop Anthony Bek school, Pleasley. Workshop exploring techniques of animation, from flip book drawings to stop frame animation of clay models. Resulting in short animated films to show the group.

 

Sept 2007 – March 2008 a place for learning, Creswell Crags Heritage centre, working with students from Whitwell Primary School, Manor Secondary school and Stubbin Wood special needs school to produce a film to be used as part of an educational teachers resource pack.

 

November 2007 Community Arts leaders training, working with a group of community volunteers to provide support and training in delivering community arts sessions.

 

October 2007 Skill share sessions to train teachers how to organise and deliver lantern-making sessions. Sessions with staff at Scarcliffe, Bolsover and Palterton schools

 

October 2007 The Big Draw Creswell Crags Heritage Centre. Week long participatory arts project producing land art in response to the change in landscape over time.

 

September 2007 Stubbin wood special school sculpture day using our heritage as a theme to explore ideas. Images of objects produced to be used for educational tool kit.

 

June – August 2007 a place for living Creswell Crags heritage centre, a program of film making workshops with a teen group documenting their response to their local heritage and environment.

Feb – March 2007 Creative Consultation, Bolsover

 

Feb – April 2007 Blackbridge Travellers Site. Artist’s residency designed to engage with young people and produce a permanent piece of art.

 

November 2006   Bolsover Moving Lights, Lantern festival with Chinese theme, working with 5 youth clubs in the District of Bolsover and culminating in a parade from Bolsover castle.

 

Sept. – Dec. 06 Kaleidoscope Surestart group of parents at Whaley Thorns. Helping them develop ideas as a group and make a creative mural / Mosaic to represent their group.

June2006   Kopy Kats Buxton Museum and Art gallery/ Eckington Library. To coincide with touring exhibition launch. Workshop with young people exploring the issues surrounding counterfeiting. Finished artworks. Made into posters to accompany the exhibition. (Further events at Brimington, Shirebrook, Ripley,)

 

April 2006 Moorsfields Homeless/refugee centre, Sheffield.. Series of workshops helping young people at the centre express their ideas through art.

 

February 2006 Grot to Green, Series of workshops based at 3 different youth groups helping young people to develop ideas about recycling and caring for the environment.
