About Andrew Tebbs

I have a contemporary art practice. I draw, paint, use film and photography and make sculptural objects.

Please contact me if you are interested in any of the works, in particular if you would like to commission new work.

My art often explores identity and sense of place and I am very interested in memory and story telling. I continue to experiment with materials and different ways of using them to create sculpture.

I enjoy collaborating with other artists and creative people. I recently worked with Derbyshire Poet Laureate, Helen Mort,  to create an artwork for Newton, Derbyshire which features a poem she wrote specifically for the place.

Who goes there?

Who goes there, who goes there?

Jedediah Strutt with loom-spun hair,

stepping clean out of the air,

cotton-spinning, slow with care.

Who goes there, who goes there?

Fix the present in your stare.

we’re all Jedediah’s heirs,

weaving stories: homemade, rare.

I also have an ongoing collaboration with Film maker and Artist Jane Darke. We have recently been producing two documentary films. One is called, ‘About the Land’ and the most recent, ‘Poet’ is about Cornish Poet Charles Causley.

Together Jane Darke and I Co-Curate the ‘St Eval Archive’  https://www.facebook.com/stevalarchive  which is a digital collection of images and recorded interviews of the people of St Eval. We are renovating St Eval Chapel, an early 19th Century Methodist Chapel to be a home for the Archive and our aim is to maintain it to be available for arts and other community activities.
